Up sell

The up sell strategy is made also without email marketing. You can same this strategy in action even on Amazon, when you see the box titled “Customers buy also...”.

This strategy consists into trying to make a customer buy another related product when he buys the first one. The second products needs to be related to the first one, but not necessary to use with the first one.

So, if the customer is interested in expanding the order with a related useful product for him, he will pace that order.

Inside an email marketing strategy, a follow up email with the up sell products can be sent to the customers after their first order.

Cross sell

Cross sell is similar to up sell, and this strategy can be done even without email marketing.

It consists in showing related useful products after or during a customer purchase, in this case, products that need to be used with the first one, or that can improve the usage of the first one.

If the customer wants to improve the usage of the product already bought, he will buy even the second one.

Inside an email marketing strategy, a follow up email with the cross sell related products can be sent to the customers after their first order.

Getting everything in place

Step 1. Set up your checkout flow on Codelia

Firstly you need to structure your checkout flow by adding checkout fields, such as first name, last name, email, and all the details of your customers that you need to collect when they place an order.

Step 2. Generate an API token on Codelia

Open your site Settings & API page to create a new API token – click on the generate button to let Codelia auto generate a token. Save this token, you'll need this to connect Codelia with Zapier. Take note also of the API endpoint that you see under the API token field.

Step 3. Sign up/Sign in on Zapier

Sign up or sign in on your Zapier account. It's time to create a new Zap:

  • Inside the trigger step of new Zap creation select Codelia as app;
  • Select New Order as event in the next dropdown;
  • Connect your Codelia site by adding the site API token inside the next step. Check the API knowledge base to learn how the token works (no technical knowledge needed);
  • Setup the site API Endpoint and the element ID inside the trigger step.

Now proceed to the action step:

  • Select Zoho Campaigns as App;
  • Select Add/Update Contact as event;
  • Connect your Zoho Campaigns account;
  • Setup the required extra options;
  • Publish the Zap.

Step 4. Add a new order on Codelia

For test purpose you can do it manually, or you can collect orders directly from the Codelia API.

Once a new order will be received, the associated customer with all of the details will be automatically added in your Zoho Campaigns account.
